1. Titanic used around 610 tonnes of coal a day, which was hand-shovelled into its furnaces by a team of 166 men. Almost 90 tonnes of ash was ejected into the sea every 32 hours.

2. There were 21,000 bottles of beer on board, 1,450 bottles of wine and 7,500 cigars. This was, however, for the use of only first-class passengers.
